Ten@Farmer42: Commander, I won't hold you for long. I just wanted to check in. Feeling better?

Dekan@kanekasier: Much, actually. I... *He hesitates a moment, and makes a small helpless gesture* I can um, fake the uh, command role. Decently. But, hands-on is where I'm um, most comfortable.

Ten@Farmer42: If there's nothing else, dismissed, Commander.

Dekan@kanekasier: I'll uh, do that, Subadmiral. *He salutes and exits*

Ten@Farmer42: *Puts Sir Nibbles down on the ground and stands up, then walks over to Astaroth* Let's have a look at you then.

Ten@Farmer42: *She puts her hands on Astaroth's shoulders and looks her up and down* I see your fashion sense is still...Unique.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Astaroth: I'm fond of these colours. My hull is similar. And I even have spiky bits!

Ten@Farmer42: *Hogs her quickly then releases her. That you do, dear. That you do.

Ten@Farmer42: *Ten looks over to Lazu. And how are YOU holding up?

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *The AI seems confused for a moment.* Oh. Right. Hugging... yes...

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Lazu: *amused* Eh. Taking care of this troublemaker is keeping me busy.

Ten@Farmer42: Seriously, Lazu. I know it's been a rough few weeks.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She sighs.* I mean, you're not wrong. Still hurts. And I'm discovering how different it is being an outed Mirror defector.

Ten@Farmer42: I can't say I know what THAT'S like, but *She indicates her implants* Well, I can sympathize.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Honestly I'm considering just hanging it up. If Starfleet doesn't want me... well, I know your crowd were angling to give me a real job.

Ten@Farmer42: Honestly, I'd rather have you in Starfleet, if they ever do decide they want you back. That's a large part of why I'm putting you in charge.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Why? So they don't throw you someone useless as a liaison?

Ten@Farmer42: The swap, and you joining Starfleet, and then sticking to it, was one of your first decisions that wsn't purely motivated by survival, in whatever terms that meant, wasn't it?

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She pauses.* I guess? I mean, I hated the Empire's guts. Just didn't have enough of my own to do anything about it since my Sulara died.

Ten@Farmer42: No one made you stay, and I was perfectly willing to write you off once I'd found you out, if you pulled a runnner.

Ten@Farmer42: You made that choice, and I'd rather you have the decision to unmake it. Not Talvius as part of some scheme.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She sighs.* I suppose. ...my family isn't talking to me. Or rather, they told me they have to process things.

Ten@Farmer42: *Nods* I can understand that. If it's any consolation, pretty much everyone who commanded our Lazu EDITED their reports. So they don't really know much about what she was really like.

Ten@Farmer42: I suspect they'll come around. Elle indicated that the Trill would have no issue passing the Lukita symbiont should the wost happen and you wish it. But that's for you to decide.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Somehow I get the feeling we wouldn't like each other if we met each other again. Me and the other Lazu, I mean.

Ten@Farmer42: Probably not, no.

Ten@Farmer42: To be honest, you probably wouldn't have liked each other much before, had you spent more time together.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: I don't think anyone much liked her, and the feeling was mutual. It's sad, really.

Ten@Farmer42: I liked her. I could see what Section 31 did to her. They made her a weapon. She was a blade, but when they were gone? She wanted a hand. And you can never trust a weapon in search of a master.

Ten@Farmer42: It's a mistake Richards made with Seuna. He never QUITE stripped her of that little bit of humanity.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: I mean, I think she was always a little messed up in the head. Have you read her academy file and early psych reports?

Ten@Farmer42: Lazu, I appoved her joining the fleet. Of course I read her file.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: I get the feeling she and Sulara were more alike than she wanted to admit. They were just remade by different people.

Ten@Farmer42: Let me ask you this, Lazu, how old were you when you first killed someone?

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She pauses to consider this.* ...sixteen.

Ten@Farmer42: And do you, now, feel the need to kill anyone that gets between you and a goal?

Lazu@Basilisk9466: No. I suspect it comes more readily to mind than for some of my colleages, but it's not the first answer. It can't be.

Ten@Farmer42: And you say that, coming from where you did. Our Lazu? She wouldn't hesitate. and her life here was considerably easier. So while there may have been some proclivities there, in both of you, you

Ten@Farmer42: learned survival. She did not. That you stand before me indicated that there isn't anything, inherently, wrong with a Lazu.

Ten@Farmer42: Either of you. Or any others that may exist.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She sighs. Grins faintly.* That's a remarkably optimistic take for a spy, T'riy.

Ten@Farmer42: My mother raised me to NOT fall into the nihilism inherent in the carreer. Especially given the general attitude of Romulans.

Ten@Farmer42: For what it's worth, I was eight. A pirate attacked the ship. He found me. I walked away. He didn't.

Ten@Farmer42: I can clearly remember the look on his face as he died. I can remember the look on the face of every person I've ever hurt, maimed, or killed. It puts things in perspective, not being able to forget

Ten@Farmer42: those things.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: I don't have eidetic memory. I just have an entire universe to point to for how not to do things.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Astaroth: You people are almost making me feel bad about much I enjoy destroying things.

Ten@Farmer42: Astaroth, enjoying the destruction is different. I like to break things, too. It's cathartic. And VERY satisfying to watch things explode.

Ten@Farmer42: That doesn't mean we should go out of our way to HURT things or people.

Ten@Farmer42: *Looks at Lazu* Put her in a mok'bara class.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: *Astaroth considers this.* It is getting easier to remember that there are squishy things inside ships now that I am one.

Ten@Farmer42: I think it would be useful. Both for conditioning and for a bit of philosophy.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: I'll see if I can get some classes going. Stars know that the crew are still jumpy about living on a borg hybrid. Some teambuilding exercises would be good, I think.

Ten@Farmer42: *Nods* Let me know if you need anything. I'm stuck here, but I hear Jimmy may have a new toy he wants to test, so he might show up.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Good, I can ask him for help if the shields start freaking out again.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Astaroth: You are not letting him anywhere NEAR my shields.

Ten@Farmer42: You're not old enough for me to let him near your shields, dear.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Astaroth: Right! ...wait, what?

Ten@Farmer42: We'll tell you when you're older.

Lazu@Basilisk9466: Lazu: Come on, fashion disaster. Let's lock down for the flight. Catch you later, Ten.

Ten@Farmer42: Later, Spots.
