[9:43] Elle@Farmer42: *An old Miranda warps in system near the Angelfire* Angelfire, this is the Contrarian. One to beam aboard for posting report.

[9:44] Lazu@Basilisk9466: [Aviel] Acknowledged, Contrarian, you're clear to transport. I'll inform the Captain.

[9:46] Elle@Farmer42: *A trill walks into the room* Commander Duhr, reporting for duty, Ma'am. You should have had the specs on the Contrarian transmitted to you this morning.

[9:49] Lazu@Basilisk9466: *Lazu glances up from her terminal briefly.* At ease. *She closes whatever she was working on, settles back.* Interesting ship.

[9:50] Elle@Farmer42: If by interesting you mean, old, under powered, and under gunned, then yes. She was an idea, but one they really didn't want to put the proper resources into developing.

[9:51] Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She snorts.* I know how that goes. So why are you still on her?

[9:52] Briar@kanekasier: *The next ship to warp in is a blackened klingon command battlecruiser* Federation 'Angelfire', this is the IKS Hammerhead. We were instructed to rendevous with you for a... 'meet and greet.'

[9:52] Elle@Farmer42: The second to last host served on her, and I've spent enough time myself that I've sort-of...Bonded with her? Besides. She just needs a bit of refit. One of those Valiant class cores, maybe. Somec

[9:53] Elle@Farmer42: Some sprucing up a bit. Maybe a refit to Reliant specs.

[9:53] Elle@Farmer42: But she has life left in her.

[9:54] Elle@Farmer42: Besides. How many Mirandas do you know that can look like a galaxy class for any amount of time, let alone two minutes.

[9:55] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Well, if anyone can keep a ship like that running, it's this fleet. Commander Burke loves a challenge. Ah, looks like our other guest is here... Aviel, tell the big guy he can transport over.

[9:55] Elle@Farmer42: Burke? As in James Burke? S'Anra warned me about him.

[9:56] Lazu@Basilisk9466: [Aviel] Hammerhead, you're clear to transport 'the big guy' over. Captain's exact words.

[9:57] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Honestly I've had few dealings with S'Anra, and I'd trust her about as far as I could throw her. Then again, doesn't mean it's bad advice.

[9:58] Briar@kanekasier: *There is some muted conversation, but the klingon's surly reply comes back.* Acknowledged, Angelfire.

[9:59] Elle@Farmer42: *Laughs* You shouldn't. She's too clever by half. I've spent the past century and a half chasing her down through two wars and three hosts.

[10:01] Elle@Farmer42: But she's retired, now. I'd recomend listening if she ever tells you something. She does have access to a decent amount of her daughter's files and sources, after all.

[10:01] Elle@Farmer42: *Looks over at the gorn* You're...large...

[10:02] Briar@kanekasier: Captain. *The gorn greets Lazu in a low rumble, then glances at Elle* And... Small... Commander, yes?

[10:02] Lazu@Basilisk9466: True. Then again, so do I. Hello Briar. You're... *She cranes her neck.* ...taller than your file implies.

[10:03] Elle@Farmer42: Commander works. I'm not on the Contrarian, so Captain is incorrect.

[10:04] Briar@kanekasier: *Briar grins, the human gesture made terrifying by his teeth* I will take that as a compliment. Marshal Briar, officially here on behalf of the KDF to this new Alliance.

[10:07] Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She considers him for a moment.* I can't help feeling like someone in Klingon Intelligence is having a joke at my expense, but your record during the Iconian war speaks for itself. I'm Captain Lukita

[10:07] Lazu@Basilisk9466: and this is Commander Duhr.

[10:08] Elle@Farmer42: Elle, please.

[10:10] Briar@kanekasier: *The warrior shrugs* Intelligence is often denied the glory of battle, so they have to get their fun somehow. But it is good to meet you. Both.

[10:12] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I have to ask... just what kind of weapon do you use? Most Klingon weapons would be like toothpicks. Or do you just eat faces off?

[10:13] Elle@Farmer42: They like to throw boulders when they get as big as tiny here.

[10:13] Elle@Farmer42: *Examines the Gorn more carefully* Was one of your ancestors stationed at Cestus? I think I headbutted him while chasing a Romulan once, a century or so ago.

[10:14] Elle@Farmer42: *Edren IV

[10:14] Briar@kanekasier: *Another grin* I usually make do with bat'leths, until someone found me one of these...

[10:15] Briar@kanekasier: And, strangely enough, I believe one of my grandmothers was in the area around that time.

[10:15] Elle@Farmer42: *Dryly* Can we beam him into space, Captain?

[10:15] Lazu@Basilisk9466: ...isn't that a point defence cannon?

[10:15] Briar@kanekasier: Why yes. Yes it is.

[10:15] Briar@kanekasier: *Grins even wider* And I love it.

[10:16] Elle@Farmer42: Ehh. Male and female Gorn tend to look the same to me. I don't generally care to take the time to look at your spines to differentiate.

[10:17] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Well ok then. *She pauses.* I was going to invite you both to sit, but I suspect you'd destroy the chair, Marshal.

[10:17] Elle@Farmer42: The chair? I feel like the next deck down is what you should care more about.

[10:17] Briar@kanekasier: Most do not. To be fair, most have much more important things to look at.

[10:18] Elle@Farmer42: Avoiding the teeth IS important.

[10:18] Briar@kanekasier: Agreed. *He says, still smiling.*

[10:19] Briar@kanekasier: As for the chair, Captain, I will have to agree. Most klingon chairs are not built with warriors of my stature in mind, much less your federation designs.

[10:21] Elle@Farmer42: You know, the smiling thing doesn't work, right? Her boss is a borg, and I have well over two centuries of terrifying memories.

[10:22] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I'd put priority on the fact that I have a personal vendetta with an undine that I've lost track of.

[10:22] Lazu@Basilisk9466: But regardless, you both know why you're here?

[10:22] Elle@Farmer42: Potato, po tah-to

[10:23] Elle@Farmer42: I'm here because command was tired of hearing Ten bitch about the Federation not being prepared to integrate allied technologies.

[10:23] Elle@Farmer42: So they sent the only holo-trainer out to molify her.

[10:24] Briar@kanekasier: I assume because someone thought it would be funny to liason a ground-commander-come-space-captain with our new friends who we used to be at war with and see if we can cooperate militarily.

[10:26] Elle@Farmer42: I have two latinum that says they thought tiny here would intimidate us.

[10:26] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Sounds about right. However, there's more to it than that. If you were just here for exercises, you'd be under Admiral Cline or Ten herself.

[10:28] Lazu@Basilisk9466: No, I have some other uses for you. While the Alliance is twiddling its thumbs with war games and campfire songs, things are amiss, and you're both important pieces in the intel game. Which, with

[10:28] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Subadmiral Ten busy elsewhere, is pretty much my department for this sector.

[10:30] Briar@kanekasier: I suppose that is acceptable. While the exercises are entertaining, they aren't quite the same as real combat. Which, hopefully, you will lead us to.

[10:31] Elle@Farmer42: Hopefully not. I'm not joking. The Contrarian, true to her name, is more or less useless in a stand up fight.

[10:33] Briar@kanekasier: Not so with the Hammerhead. If you can handle the reconnaissance, I can handle any 'stand up fight'.

[10:34] Elle@Farmer42: Yeah, no recon, either. You need a Galaxy for about two minutes? She can look like one. On pssive and active sensors, too.

[10:34] Elle@Farmer42: But that's about it.

[10:34] Lazu@Basilisk9466: You're here, Commander, due to your unique talents. I want you to check through the Trust's personnel for infiltration.

[10:34] Lazu@Basilisk9466: And yes, I know that's a large job. I'll be forwarding you a priority list.

[10:36] Briar@kanekasier: That could be useful, actually, in the right circumstance. The infiltration thing, however, I will be glad to let someone else handle.

[10:36] Elle@Farmer42: I'll prepare my CMO. You have a lot of telepathically active officers.

[10:36] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Marshal, you're insurance. You're a scary piece of lizard, and I may need that.

[10:36] Elle@Farmer42: I'm in for a long headache.

[10:38] Briar@kanekasier: The KDF seemed to think so as well. *Briar's grin is slightly more open-mouthed, in the traditional gorn smile* Being scary is my second best talent.

[10:42] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I hope your best is killing things that don't like dying. You ever fought an Undine in close quarters?

[10:42] Briar@kanekasier: Yes.

[10:43] Elle@Farmer42: Don't open your mouth like that in combat. The undine will just try to tear your jaw off.

[10:43] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Last time I tried it, the bitch took about twenty phaser blasts just to put weaken her enough for capture.

[10:44] Elle@Farmer42: If we find her, I'm probably going to be in a medically induced coma in the corner, avoiding the migraine.

[10:45] Briar@kanekasier: Your phasers are good at many things, but in terms of firepower they tend to... *He pauses, mulling his words*

[10:45] Briar@kanekasier: Not quite lack, but you favor 'cleanliness' over power.

[10:46] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Believe me, I know. Tinkering with weapons is a personal hobby. These weren't standard issue rifles. *She touches her belt, and places a sleek weapon on the desk.*

[10:46] Elle@Farmer42: You've clearly never fought someone who knows how to tweak their emitters. A Type II will cut through ten Cims of armor in about a second if focused properly.

[10:47] Elle@Farmer42: And that's if the power pack and delivery focuser haven't been tweaked.

[10:47] Elle@Farmer42: *Pats the old pistol on her hip* Emma here can hold her own.

[10:49] Briar@kanekasier: That's kind of the difference though. A disruptor pistol, or assault gun, just does that out of the box. So to speak. Phasers, someone has to come in and coddle.

[10:49] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Between that and your ship, you seem to have an appreciation for the classics, Commander. I mean Elle.

[10:49] Briar@kanekasier: Not that I intend to disparage your arms. I've been on the wrong end of those enough times to respect them.

[10:50] Elle@Farmer42: Emma's a hand-me-down. Biolocked to the current host AND the Symbiont. You need to be registered and have Duhr present to fire her. We've all tweaked her over the years.

[10:51] Elle@Farmer42: You know that two meter gash above the bar at Drozana? That was Emma in 2358.

[10:51] Briar@kanekasier: And there are those in the KDF who say the Federation has no warrior spirit. *Briar snorts in clear amusement*

[10:51] Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She looks a little thoughtful for a moment, then the rifle vanishes into her buffer again.* Regardless, any questions from either of you?

[10:52] Elle@Farmer42: Look around. meet people. Take headache medicine. Report any migraines. Pretty simle.

[10:52] Elle@Farmer42: *Simple

[10:53] Briar@kanekasier: I am assuming you would rather my squads stay on standby, rather than escort Elle here around.

[10:54] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I'd rather stick to a low profile operation. No need to spread panic.

[10:54] Lazu@Basilisk9466: We don't even know if Talvius is within the Trust at this point, but I'd rather not take chances.

[10:56] Briar@kanekasier: That will hurt our responce times, but we can plan for that. Locate a point, and I can beam my teams in strategically.

[10:57] Briar@kanekasier: Cut off escape routes, lock down access points, so on and so forth.

[10:58] Elle@Farmer42: You want me looking for anything else?

[10:58] Elle@Farmer42: If I'm sniffing around, a bit of reflection might not hurt.

[10:58] Lazu@Basilisk9466: *A mechanical spider abruptly pounces onto the desk and whirrs threateningly. She leans forward to pet the machine.* I'm open to anything else unusual you find. Briar, I'll have my security division

[10:59] Lazu@Basilisk9466: coordinate with you, the Angelfire and some other vessels use transport lockouts to prevent unauthorised teleportation. Learned that lesson the hard way. *She considers.* About three times.

[11:00] Briar@kanekasier: *He nods* So long as we can get in when we need to.

[11:01] Elle@Farmer42: Maybe the fourth time they'll let you keep the space station.

[11:03] Briar@kanekasier: Keep the space station? *Briar adopts what loosly translates to a wry expression* Should I ask about what that means?

[11:03] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I get enough shit from Ten, thank you. I'll just add on warnings about a couple of surprises you'll run into around here. Here's one of them. *The machine settles.* His name's Wyrm, and yes, he's a

[11:04] Lazu@Basilisk9466: modified Elachi drone. Little souvenir. He's harmless, just rude.

[11:04] Elle@Farmer42: I think he's cute.

[11:05] Briar@kanekasier: Most things that size are cute. At least to me.

[11:06] Briar@kanekasier: I am curious how you managed to modify an elachi drone though. Most of my encounters with those have been... Brief.

[11:07] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I was trapped on a half-dead Elachi outpost for a few hours. His detonator failed.

[11:08] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Now, if you see a large warship that looks like a razorblade married a Romulan warbird, that's the Astaroth. She's a sentient former Tal Shiar construct that hangs around with us. It's a long story.

[11:09] Briar@kanekasier: A... *Briar blinks* A sentient, former, Tal Shiar... Construct. That hangs around a federation fleet.

[11:11] Briar@kanekasier: Clearly, I need to convince you to spin that tale in our victory hall some time. It sounds fascinating.

[11:11] Elle@Farmer42: Her boss is a Liberated Borg Romulan who was raised by a retired Tal Shiar assassin. The sad thing is, for this fleet that, what, a five out of ten or so for general "long story"-ness

[11:11] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Like I said. Long story. She's proved to be loyal and reliable. She's just rather alien, very socially awkward, and a bit shy. When she's not blowing pirates to bits.

[11:14] Lazu@Basilisk9466: The other notably alien ship is a heavily modified and upgraded Solanae carrier IDed Tir Na Nog. That's Captain Hart's ship. She's very attached to it. For a time, literally.

[11:14] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I think that covers the basics.

[11:17] Lazu@Basilisk9466: *She glances over her notes.* Now, if only our Temporal liaison officer would pop out of the woodwork again, I'd actually have all my bases covered...

[11:17] Briar@kanekasier: *Briar glances at Elle before gesturing at Lazu* I think -this- is why the KDF agreed to the Alliance. You people are incredibly strange.

[11:18] Briar@kanekasier: Personally? I like it. Never know what to expect when you get into a fight with the Federation.

[11:19] Lazu@Basilisk9466: That, and we're just so -nice-. *She gives a fake grin and smooshes her cheeks for a moment, then settling back.* Right. I've got work to do, and so do you.

[11:19] Elle@Farmer42: I THINK mentioning something to Ten might scare them up. I think she's doing something in the 26th Century.

[11:20] Elle@Farmer42: Anyway. I have a ship to run and headaches to develope. If there's nothing more you need from me, Captain?

[11:20] Lazu@Basilisk9466: Carry on, Commander.

[11:21] Briar@kanekasier: I'll organize my... I think the equivalent is 'marines'. I'm serious about that trip to the victory hall though.

[11:22] Lazu@Basilisk9466: I'll let you know when I've got some spare time and the willingness to drink like a Klingon.

[11:22] Briar@kanekasier: *Briar does the open mouth grin again* It will be my honor to host you, Captain.
